Recap from Mario

Mario has kindly done us a recap (links are all over the "Internets" and in major papers) before he goes out of town for a few days:

Just to get things straight.........in the last 4 years Republicans have stood by while their party has:

Placed an illegitimate person in the Oval Office.

Pushed though ill-conceived tax cuts that benefited mostly the top 2% of the population.

Increased the size of government by 25% while at the same time gutting major public programs and ignoring the nation’s infrastructure.

Produced a record debt.

Held Secret and illegal energy meetings with top oil exc. To determine national energy strategy.

Failed to heed numerous warnings about an upcoming attack on our nation.

”Outed” a CIA agent and her covert operation that took over a decade to set up.

Based cabinet appointments on party connections and family loyalty instead of qualifications.

Ignored critical evidence showing Iraq had no WMD.

Choosing instead to lie to the American people and the world in order to start a costly, bloody and needless war...that in the end created an Islamic State.

Then sending under-armored soldiers into this War.

Used a family tragedy to pander to its religiously confused base.

Fired or demoted dozens of whistleblowers.

Ignored scientific reports that did not fit their view of an issue.

Continues to maintain a friendly relation with the Royal Saudi family. ..some of the most ruthless dictators on the planet.

Issued several hard to get White House press passes to a Republican operative who happened to be a gay prostitute.

Has for the first time in American history forced citizens to sign loyalty oaths in order to attend a tax payer funded public event with the Pres1dent.

Given several tax cuts to oil companies even though those companies are reaping record profits by charging record high prices.

Ignored several warnings about probable doom in the Gulf region and then failed to act in a timely manner to prevent further death.

Instituted the policy of imprisoning people indefinitely without a trial or the right to a lawyer.

State sponsored torture.

Did I miss any? It’s a shock and awe of scandals.

Just one of these would have crippled most administrations. And it should have crippled this one....had it not been for its sheepish supporters and supplicant media.

All you need to know........The LA Governor asked the Federal Gov’t for help on Aug 28........ It took DAYS for that help to arrive.

I’m going out of town for a few days...you will be getting a break from my E Rants for a while.


But to be fair and balanced here is a list of the accomplishment(s) of the Bush administration:
