Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)
RAC Action Alert: Don't Let Violence Against Women Act Expire
The 1994 Violence Against Women Act is set to expire on September 30, 2005 unless reauthorized. To ensure that essential services continue to be provided to victims of abuse and sexual assault, and that programs to prevent and treat gender-based violence continue, the Senate must vote to reauthorize VAWA before it expires. Let your Senators know that this legislation must be voted on now!
Take Action!
In phone calls, letters, faxes and email, urge your Senators to vote as soon as possible and support the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (S. 1197). To reach your Senators, call the Capitol Switchboard at 202.224.3121. You can also send an e-mail or letter to your Senators by going to the RAC Legislative Action Center. For more information, please contact RAC Legislative Assistant Samantha Pohl at 202.387.2800.
